With a positive and an encouraging atmosphere, See Ya Later Football Camp will be one not to miss. The first 200 1st-8th graders to pre-register will enjoy learning skills and techniques of Football. 6th-8th grade will get additional chance to attend the Friday Night Lights! Special guest, National Football League star and Current Tight End for Carolina Panthers Dante Rosario will be joining us for the Camp! Join KUPL for Cowboy Day at Stub Stewart State Park and Vernonia State Trail. There will be treasure hunt for horse back riders, bikers, and hikers. Prizes, shows, skits, cowboy history, and roping lessons. Hoping to take everyone back to the good old days of the cowboy and teach every one just a little bit more about our history and the places we visit. Our goal is to preserve and enhance recreational and educational opportunities and to promote the use and appreciation of the cultural, historical, and natural resources of Stub Stewart and Banks/Vernonia rails to trails State parks. Admission $6.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Relays are an overnight event starting Saturday, July 18th at 10:00am and ending on Sunday, July 19th at 10:00am. Tour de Cure is a cycling event, put on by the American Diabetes Association. There are multiple routes ranging from 10-100 miles. All riders begin and end at Hillsboro Stadium, a celebration area filled with activities and information about diabetes. Riders and volunteers encouraged. Minimum fund raising of $150 per rider.

The North Plains Elephant Garlic Festival is a free community event celebrating the benefits of Garlic. We have 20 food vendors using garlic to enhance their foods, 70 juried art & craft vendors, a 10K run sponsored by the Road Runners of America, a classic Car show, sponsored by the Thunderbird Car Club, a parade, a beer garden and live music playing all three days along with a children's area. Vernonia's First Friday season begins! From May 1st through October 2nd, the first Friday every month will celebrate community in Vernonia with merchant specials and various community and education events. The opening events are held in Hawkins Park and in the Scout Cabin in the park. Live music with Strings on Fire. Other events include an old-fashioned cake walk, the OSU Master Gardeners' Info Table, May Baskets crafts table and Bring a Book/Take a Book box. Scout Cabin opens at 5:00PM, Maypole Dance starts at 6:00PM. Rain or shine. The Cure JM Benefit Concert welcomes special guest Jessica Lerner, Savannah Outen, Waiting in Vain and the Vega Dance Team. All proceeds from this concert will help benefit the Cure JM Foundation (www.curejm.org) to fund research for the disease Juvenile dermatomyositis.
