30 Boxes for iPhone — oh so sweet!January 25th, 2008 by Narendra |
We are going to take the uncharacteristic step of congratulating ourselves on this one. A relatively full functioning version of 30 Boxes Calendar is now up for iPhone — available at http://i.30boxes.com
The design is inspired by Apple but we took the functionality up a couple notches.
The good:
- after the initial load, it is very snappy even on EDGE
- one box!
- easy to use and pretty
- all of your web stuff as well as the latest on your buddies with a news feed
- your friends latest upcoming events from inside 30 Boxes and out on the web
The could be better:
- initial load time on EDGE
- can’t edit repeating options (too much of a pain on first pass)
- it is a first release so tell us about bugs in the forum
- ok, that’s not so bad
Spread the word. We’re back and with multiple projects in the works.

This is really good, congrats. One little thing though, I would love to see the todo list in this app.
Thanks, CJ.

Hy,
I have tried to see if there was a chance t make it work on my PDA (HTC S710 with WM6) … I can login, I can see the calendar page, use the arrows on the calendar to browse by month but I am not able to click on a day of the calendar ..
Anyway … I think that with minor changements you could make it avaialble for PDAs too … Bye

This is awesome! I’ve used it a couple of times now and find myself wanting to return more often. I’m having this internal struggle with myself, lately, to be more efficient with how I use my time. With conveniences like this, I may actually make great strides in succeeding.
I must say that I’m very appreciative that you guys have created the iPhone version of the mobile site. Thanks for your hard work. And it’s okay that it’s not perfect to start. The one main thing I really wish for is the ability to set recurrence of an event. Without that ability, the app feels crippled in a way.
The other thing I noticed was that there’s some wierdness in the way the invite “drop-down” works. I’m impressed that the drop-down gives me the option to select previously invited addresses. However, it seems to not actually take in the entry box. I still had to type the full e-mail address all the way out. That’s totally way down on my list in comparison to recurrence, though.
Go 30b!

Fairly cool, even on my Nokia N95 8GB. If only the font size could be decreased just a little, it’d fit in my screen perfectly too. Any chance you could build that in?
If you could recognize the phone (for what it’s worth, my browser tells you it’s a NokiaN95_8GB), maybe you could set the font size automatically?

Any plans for a native iPhone app come June?

We are going to see where apple moves with new devices and how the dev program looks before committing but we could do something pretty slick.

iPhone is out. Would like to see this as an application.

I defected from 30boxes and tried Google cal for a while. Wasn’t really happy with it, but still continued to use it. Then I got an iPhone, and saw this web based app. It switched me back to using my 30boxes account full time.
Great app, but I would also like to see this as an actual iphone application. I’d be willing to pay a few bucks for it.
