Baby-Feed For Facebook

July 23rd, 2007 by Narendra

We’ve just put out a handy new upgrade to the Facebook version of 30 Boxes. It is sort of a miniature version of Buddy Updates about you that appears in your Calendar box on your profile page in Facebook.

Baby-Feed does the following:

  • If you are sharing events, it will list the last thing you added or updated
  • If you have any web updates, the most recent one for each site (e.g. flickr) is listed.
My Baby-Feed
Oh, and did you know that the 30B version of letting you know what your friends were doing preceded the Facebook news feed and the latest lifestreamers? You saw it first, right here!

Yep. I knew about the buddy updates even before I heard the term “lifestream.” It seems that everybody is trying to catch up. I’m still partial to the 30Boxes implementation, though. And I like how it’s used by PowerTwitter. Now if only I had more friends…

(BTW - I’d like web updates even better if I could somehow get my GameSpot feed to load in 30Boxes…)

Jo, they only show the *last* thing you added or updated and people who are sharing find this both useful and informative.

We are considering letting people turn it off.

I think people SHOULD have the option of turning the baby feed off. I don’t like it at all. Facebook already does that for you. I don’t need another one.

Lisa, Facebook does not include outside services like flickr, upcoming, etc.

+1 for allowing it to be toggled on/off in the app settings. my profile page is busy enough (and already includes most of those streams… twitter, flickr, etc.). to each her own.

I meant they already have a feed of their own about updates on friends on Facebook. I don’t need another one. It’s a little much for the Facebook version. Plus, they do reminders for Upcoming Events. Nevermind, I’ll just take the app. off my Facebook to make it easier.

It’s already stalker-ish enought to have a feed on everyone you know on Facebook; ever MORE stalkerish when you have a baby feed added on. That is all.

Lisa, we have turned BF off until we can include a setting!

Right. I agree. The ability to turn off would be important.
