Introducing Twapper 2.0b - Mashing 30Boxes and TwitterApril 2nd, 2007 by Narendra |
There have been a lot of iterations and we are just calling it good at 2.0 ;-)
OK, we have done a whole lot of integration lately so this post will be lengthy. We have some features that work for everyone (non-30B users), but there are some huge advantages to signing up and using 30 Boxes as your social web conduit and buddy tracker (it works well as a calendar too!)
Open Web - No Login Required
- twapper is available at http://m.30boxes.com/twapper on any mobile browser (or web browser)
- http://m.30boxes.com/twapper/30boxes gives you updates from 30Boxes and friends (insert any twitter username!)
- http://m.30boxes.com/twapper/steverubel+scobleizer+davewiner lets you roll your own “twitter groups” so you can bookmark and track sets of people (in this case, you’d get a bunch of incredibly verbose twitter zealots!) — yes TWITTER GROUPS, and see below for direct group messaging
- links in twitter posts are “unwound” so they describe the page they link to (instead of just tinyurl)
- links to flickr photo pages display images
- and the big news, we are mapping thousands of accounts to the social web and giving you recent Web Updates from the people participating in twitter discussions. You get all sorts of stuff like blog posts, flickr photos, del.icio.us links. Add things to your Web Stuff and you’ll be instantly sharing and feeding info to your friends!
30 Boxes Users - Lots of Goodies
- Visit Settings > Web Stuff and add your Twitter Name
- There is also a status line that lets you update directly to twitter anytime your want. Update now! We cache your credentials so that you can post directly from twapper!
- The main 30B view now gives you a “twitters” link which shows the latest updates in your network
- Twapper now lets you post updates
- Twapper also lets you direct message someone when you are looking at “just so-and-so”
- And the extra sweetness is that if you roll your own group, you can direct message everyone in that group! If you don’t want to plague your entire network, you can bookmark subsets and send them messages. Remember, people only get your direct messages if they have added you as twitter friends.
We have an excellent Firefox plugin coming shortly. In the meantime enjoy, and please let us know if you find bugs. Remember to post an update from the main 30 Boxes view and give us feedback. Warning, twitter is still getting sea legs, so be patient with any slowness or downtime…

30 Boxes!

Roll Your Own Group = AWESOME

Incredible stuff… thanks for the constant innovation and forward thinking!

How very cool! Is there a way that it can page back into history? Even a twitter mashup that was not mobile in nature for those that want to get the most of catching up on links from friends. http://twitterbuzz.com/ is a great feature but you can see that bots have taken over. I want to be able to view all links twittered by friends in the last 24 hours, or friends of a friend. Like this http://m.30boxes.com/twapper/scobleizer/links
Thanks for continuing to be more than a calendar, you rock
