30 Boxes Blog TimelineDecember 4th, 2006 by Narendra |
We just put the finishing touches on a great new WordPress plugin. It allows users to scroll through the entire history of your blog with a slick embedded ajax calendar. You can install it in 60 seconds and it has some nice customization, including the ability to overlay other stuff (like flickr photos). You can see it on my blog — look for the View Timeline links.
Try it out and let us know how it works!

Wonderful! Would be great if someone could provide this for Textpattern… :)

Hmm, I get an warning message:
Warning: extract(): First argument should be an array in /home/wordpress/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2170
using WordPress 2.0.5. Any ideas? It seems to work fine other than the message.

Kevin, it should be fixed, but I couldn’t test it on your server of course. You need to grab the latest version:

Please let us know.
Thanks

Hi Nick, thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately I still see the same problem. I removed v7.0, verified it was gone in the WordPress plugin screen, then installed v8.0 & activated it, then closed & restarted the browser. Tried in Firefox 2.0 & IE 6.
If it helps, I’m running PHP 4.3.10-18 on Debian.

Also Nick, I just now moved away from the default theme and got:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: stripos() in /wordpress/wp-content/plugins/blogTimeline/blogTimeline.php on line 132
I added my theme name to line 202, so it calls showContent like before and avoids the call to showTime.

I’d love to see this kind of functionality as a stream and as a horizontal Simile-style timeline. Any chance that could happen?

Hey, Nick.
I love this functionality. Had already added to my site via the code previously provided. Works great, but I can’t seem to get all my older stuff to show up. Seems to only go back about 45 days??? How can I change?
I also downloaded/installed the plug-in, but can not figure out how to config/implement. Activated, but it didn’t change anything. You help on this would appreciated, as well!
Thanks!

Well, I have been tinkering with the timeline since leaving my prior comment. Rebuilt the mash-up and that did not fix it. Then, I rebuilt it again filling in the title and asking for 6 rows. While it gave me 5 instead, the retrospective issue is fixed.
It is now showing everything on my blog. Don’t know how. Don’t know why, but I’m gonna run with it!
Happy New Year! I do LOVE the timeline functionality. It is a lifesaver for a photoblog like mine!
