30Boxes Webtop Mashups - Netvibes, Google Calendar, MeeboJuly 12th, 2006 by Narendra |
I just have to say it: we are having a great time!
We released the next revision of our webtop today and it is a bit more polished (still some work to go with some buggy favicons in IE) but you now have your dock, search, an upoming personal agenda, and buddy updates. Additionally, for non-email dock items, we have created a windowing system that lets the webtop inline other applications which creates an experience and look that is downright cool. Love Netvibes as a start page (we do!), then drop it on your webtop.

Is it more useful than a tabbed browser? Who knows! It is less distance with the mouse. (And it sure looks good!)

There are still some glitches but as long as we are building on the margins, this is a fun glimpse at tomorrow’s collaborative world. This paves the way for apps and widgets that are hosted and maintained elsewhere…

I want to make my webtop my home page in my browser. When I tried, it takes me to my calendar instead.

Cool, its shaping up to be indispensable now, just like the standard calendar view.

30Boxes Enhances Webtop With Windowing System
30Boxes has added a windowing system to their awesome webtop that allows you to look at external pages like Flickr (or whatever else you define), without actually leaving the page. The best part in my opinion is this: If you want to close the win…

Nice. Does this mean we can look forward to a 30boxes netvibes module someday?

Pete, the 30Boxes RSS feed looks great in Netvibes. I’ve got it on my homepage to show me my upcoming events. Very slick

Yeah, I do too. It’s nice. What would be great though is to have a one box module that would let me add stuff. That would be sweet.

Good call to allow users to add Netvibes to the webtop: is there any likelihood of enabling the reverse? i.e. a 30 Boxes module for Netvibes? Not just an RSS feed, but something that allows entries and editing.

Windows Live homepage
Am I the only one who thinks Windows Live.com is clunkier-than-hell? Half the time, the modules won’t load, or they are hard to configure. And, in my opinion, it’s just ugly…plain and simple. Yes, I know it’s still in “…
