Import from Outlook, Yahoo, and iCal

March 9th, 2006 by Nick

Time to ditch the old desktop-bound software, clunky interface, or old-school calendar you’ve been chained to - we want 30 Boxes to be your One Calendar! Try out our new Import Tool and let us know what you think in this forum.
We’ve cranked out a lot of new features this week, but things will quiet down for a while as we work on bug fixes, some internal projects, and maybe even take a little time off…

Please create an import tool from Lotus Notes!

Seems like you guys need a little service app that auto-syncs from outlook. Yahoo could be done via the web of course. Are you guys planning this?

Great - it’s only a short hop from this to a proper sync tool, which would enable me to actually start using 30boxes.

I definitely appreciate this, thanks guys!

A suggestion: please throw a “Check All” and maybe even also a “Check None” button for those of us who are importing an entire calendar and want to do just that - import the entire thing. It took a while to check all those boxes. Thanks, again!

It worked great. I would really appreciate having it sync automatically though.

Looks good! Only problem is that I use Palm Desktop. I’d switch, but I can’t find the install disk. :( Anyone know a way of getting Palm Desktop to import/export iCal files?

You guys need to add a feature almost like a “strikethrough” to kinda mark stuff that has been done or complete. Keep up the good work

I continue to need to access my calendar from my ultra-portable Palm device. If you had a way to synchronize in both directions between 30boxes.com calendar and my Palm, that would be awesome. I also would appreciate it if any import or export you had supported Lotus Organizer.

Perhaps this can already be done via the iCal sync, but I’d like the ability to integrate with my Upcoming.org events. That way I could add them there, then they’d show up on my 30boxes calendar without too many hurdles. There are some definite sweet spots to be explored by that kind of integration (well, I think so anyway), since the two of you are doing similar, but not completely overlapping work.

[Narendra: you can add your upcoming account as part of your web stuff and your upcoming events appear on your calendar!]

It would be cool to drop gmails into the 30b before Google comes out with its calendar.

Just created an account and the import feature works beautifully with iCal, but I concur that it would be greatly improved if either a “select all” button were added or perhaps if all items were selected automatically and the user could uncheck any items he didn’t want to add.

Now, if it could sync automatically, I’d be in heaven.

The import tool is a great addition. Some needed extras:

    - the previously mentioned ’select all’ box
    - Be able to import as one calendar, and then be able to turn that calendar on and off, or delete it all-together ( I won’t want to have to delete each Detroit Pistons 05-06 schedule game when the new season starts)

I am trying out the new Calendar extension for thunderbird, and it is pretty awesome so far. It retrieves from 30boxes great, but is it possble to do real-time syncing?

    Hi guys,

You’ve done a great job. There maybe another way you should explore. Yahoo has released a software in order to synchronize the calendar, notes, task and contact from outlook (or even lotus notes) with their service.

This apps was done by Intellisync (now owned by nokia) and it’s a greate feature. I know this soft because we use one of the product of Intellisync at work in order to sync our lotus mail, contact and calendar with our PocketPC. So I can say that it works great.

Anyway I would like to use 30boxes as my One calendar, but I really need some sync option (and not only import) and also I really need to have notes, contact and task.

I tried to import an csv from Yahoo calendar and got this message:

No events were found. Make sure you uploaded a valid ics file.

    What am I doing wrong???

Yeah, I got the exact same message when I uploaded a csv file from Outlook. What gives?
